Fire resistant glass SG Fire — a multilayer construction from safety glass sheets; space between them is filled with the clear fire resistant gel.

Properties of fire resistant glass SG Fire

Under a high temperature impact gel layers lose water and transform into porous ceramic opaque foam that creates a barrier. The barrier is able to restrain flame and combustion products within a long period of time. Opacity of protective layer allows preventing panic during evacuation of victims at the time of fire.

Fire resistant properties of glass are characterized by two criterions:

• glass integrity preservation (E index) — within a certain period of time absence of glass cracks and holes, through which flame and smoke can penetrate
• preservation of heat-insulating properties (I index) — the ability of glass to restrain at a particular level a heat flow transmission into a protected building

The time, within which heat-insulating properties are preserved, is indicated in glass marking. In all cases the time, within which glass integrity is preserved, is not less than the time of heat-insulating property preservation.

Application qualities

A temperature range of SG Fire glass operation varies from -35 to +80°С.

SG Fire glass is clear and does not cause optical distortions.

Fire resistant glass SG Fire can be used in an insulating glass unit. As under direct solar rays fire-prevention gel inside the glass loses its clarity and obtains muddy tint, UV filter should be used in case of exterior glazing with fire resistant insulating glass. As a UV filter laminated glass on PVB film base is applied. In an insulating glass unit fire resistant glass is installed as internal glass (it is directed inside a building). Laminated glass acting as a filter is applied as outer glass.

In SG Fire glass construction different types of glass with special properties can be used: thermal control, solar control, multifunctional, depolished glass and others.

Production capabilities:

• glass production of EI 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 fire resistance classes
• maximum glass sizes 2 350×2 800mm
• minimum glass sizes 350×170mm

Conformance of fire resistant glass of «Siberian Glass Company» production to fire safety requirements is proved by the test protocol of Civil Defense and Disaster Management Science Research Institute.
